Assessment and Teaching in São Paulo

Since 2003, we have been providing professional training in the municipal school system of Mogi das Cruzes to guide, through courses, pedagogical workshops and support, all teachers who had students included in their classrooms. In one of the schools that received personalized support, we carried out a cognitive assessment of students who had learning difficulties or behavioral disorders. During our consultancy work, we implemented our support material in all schools that have a computer lab.

One of the results of our training was the development of a pedagogical project in one of the schools in the network: Nino! This project was conceived and carried out by the school's own teachers who participated in the courses and workshops.

Another important result of the work carried out was the development of a research proposal submitted to and approved by FAPESP - São Paulo State Research Support Foundation. In 2006, a FAPESP project began on behalf of the Medical Informatics Department of the USP School of Medicine in Mogi das Cruzes, which aims to evaluate the use of the Enscer System for the cognitive development of children with special educational needs. 16 teachers from the network receive monthly grants to work with 400 students selected by teachers from 4 schools in the municipality, schools chosen by the department based on the areas with the highest risk of social exclusion and with the greatest availability of space and access.
