Brain activity in decoding different types of texts.

Brain mapping was performed on 4 groups of adults while they were comprehension of a humorous text and a neutral text, both presented with and without illustrations.

The groups could be divided into more verbal individuals and more visual individuals, since in their brain mapping some individuals, to whom illustrated texts were presented, showed greater participation of areas of the left temporal lobe associated with language processing, while other individuals, to whom texts were presented without illustrations, showed greater participation of areas of the right hemisphere associated with visual imaginary processing.
