Seeing and Learning

Research > Neuro-Education

São Paulo-SP | 2000-2001

In 2000, the Enscer Project began to support the learning of children assisted by Unicid - Universidade Cidade de São Paulo in its Academic Support Center for the Disabled (CAAD). Our work consisted of assisting the children with electronic educational activities from the Enscer Educational Software.

After six months (on average) of using the system, it was possible to observe that the children:

began to have better visual efficiency and to deal with autonomy in using the ENSCER program;

learned to interpret the illustrations on the monitor, which they had not done before;

began to use the ENSCER programming for their school level, thus being able to begin learning that they had not been doing in regular school.

The Brain Mapping in these children showed a different brain processing from that observed in adults and normal children. The Brain Maps of these children showed, however, a preserved visual processing capacity and, even more importantly, a great ease in using visual memory to solve problems.
