Brain activity responsible for understanding and producing Brazilian Sign Language.

The basic objective of this study is to seek to understand the neurophysiological process used by deaf people during the processing of Libras, analyzing the electrical activity of the brain through the technology of Brain Cognitive Mapping (MCC). It is also intended to study the possible differences in brain activation in the processing of Libras between deaf and hearing signers.

The brain mapping performed on children and adolescents with hearing impairments showed that the understanding of Brazilian Sign Language depends on neural circuits similar to those involved in the understanding of an oral verbal language.
