Voting Decision and Politics
Research > Neuro-Economics
São Paulo | 2005
In October 2005, a vote was held on whether or not to ban arms sales in Brazil.
EINA used its brain mapping methodology to study the brain dynamics of this decision. It also conducted a public opinion survey in the week leading up to the plebiscite.
This survey allowed individuals to declare their voting intentions; whether they could change their decision up until election day, and if so, to declare the possible change. In addition, the survey allowed both the acceptance and rejection of each proposal to be calculated.
These results allowed the prediction of the victory of NO over YES one week before the vote.
